The Death Of Internet Marketing Gurus?

The Death Of Internet Marketing Gurus?

Those who would be labeled "Internet Marketing Gurus," for the most part, are NOT showing the masses what they need to know. They're not selling products that will allow the average person to do what they do. They are not giving away information that will allow the average person to be successful in the same way. They are not even teaching the methods that they use.

I often like to read what Jonathan Leger has to say. Here, he gives his viewpoint on one of Mike Filsaime's recent reports. As usual Jonathan cuts to the chase and tells it like he sees it... good for him. But the message here, for me anyway, is larger.

Using sweeping statements can be dangerous. I don't want to get caught in the trap of saying that "all big name Internet Marketers" are full of it. But consider this... remember the "nothing down" real estate strategies. Robert Allen was famous for his book and even more famous for his news worthy challenges on the subject years ago. Just like the Internet Marketing Gurus of today, the nothing down real estate gurus advertised in droves and told us how easy it was to make a fortune in real estate.

It was never as easy as they said. Did people make money using some or all of these techniques? Yes. Did the majority of the people who purchased the real estate investment courses make money with them? No. Was that all the fault of the real estate gurus? No.

I suspect, though, that the ones who made the most money were the ones who were in the right place, at the right time, made the right moves, and then started selling their own brand of real estate investment seminar. That is almost exactly the same scenario that I see with the Internet today.

Don't get me wrong... I firmly believe that there is a ton of money to be made on the Internet. I firmly believe that the biggest wave is yet to come. I firmly believe that somewhere, there's a guy who doesn't even own a computer yet who will some day earn a fortune from the Web.

I also believe that a number of so called Internet Marketing Gurus will clean up, and it is very possible that only a tiny portion of their customers will ever turn a profit. I know for a fact that most of these people are selling systems and techniques that are not as easy to implement as they claim. I also know that they are using other techniques, or combinations of techniques, that have a much higher success rate.

The kicker is this... your Guru can afford to fail many times over. When he sells you a system or a product, however, you are betting that it will work for you. Ask your Internet Marketing Guru how many times he fails. Ask him how many of his customers fail using that product. Then ask yourself if you can afford to fail, and if you can afford to give up the money for their system even if it never returns any profits to you.
